He's not lineal Fury nuthuggers and desperate Americans.
You don't lose lineage when you take a two year hiatus. He didn't officially retire.

    Lol @ Joshua fans!

Fury is not lineal but it doesn't matter because lineal is just a fans made title, nothing more. It's as relevant as p4p list, means absolutely nothing.

It has happened throughout history...when a fighter retires or gets suspended they lose their lineal title. This also happened to Fury, it's right there for anyone to see isn't it ? Why do you think that TRBR and The Ring don't recognise Tyson Fury as their lineal Champion anymore ? Because he isnt
The Ring and TRBR have nothing to do with lineal.

I don't mean to disparage either organization but citing them as an authority on lineal is citing them as an authority on history to which both orgs will gladly tell you they do not know their ass.

The Ring is a promotional piece. Ronda Rousey was never the baddest woman on the planet son.

TRBR has a charter that clearly explains how they see things. They don't speak to history, precedence, or tideas. They have rules for how they rank and what they rank.

Jeffries had been out of boxing 6 years when he met Jack Johnson.

So, it isn't just about time or retirement, it is more about the circumstances.

          Fury didn't "retire".

He was unable to fight due to medical issues.

And to those arguing about the PED use disqualifying Fury from being lineal I have two words: Canelo Alvarez.

Tyson Fury is the lineal by any credible definition.

The lineal championship is indeed on the line Dec. 1 and there is no doubt in my mind that the winner will be called exactly that.

Any different and it's the folks at RING and other lineal bodies who will be the hypocrites.

PS- I get the feeling that certain fanboys would have no problem calling an AJ vs Fury fight lineal...

If Fury was fighting AJ then his lineal status would apply. But since he is fighting Wilder he is not, it is a meaningless fight.

The only meaningful fight for Fury was an AJ fight, otherwise he gets stripped of any status that he had

You need to explain this further.

That, or admit it is sprinkled with horse manure.

Fury is still "the man who beat the man".

I still consider him lineal and therefore this fight has the lineal title at stake.

But, even if you don't think Fury is the lineal right now, all you need to fill the lineal title is a box-off between two fighters qualified to claim it or two otherwise top ranked fighters.

Theoretically, a lineal box-off could take place between any two top 10 fighters.

We certainly have that. Actually we have much more than that.

We have arguably the best heavyweight in boxing, the longest reigning champion, going up against that same last lineal who never lost his title in the ring.

              This is a lineal fight.

                When did Fury retire?

Everything you said is true. He was the lineal champ but he lost it by not defending it for years. Nobody is bigger on lineal champions than the Ring magazine and they don't consider him the lineal champ and list the heavyweight title as vacant with Fury being the number 8 contender. Revelated who insists Fury is still the lineal champion is a boxing moron. Here is another news flash. Fury is NOT a Gypsy king. He just decided to crown himself the Gypsy king. No Gypsy calls him their king. The Gypsy king has a nice ring to it but I don't think Gypsies even have kings.

Why are you Brits so afraid of a Joshua/Wilder fight?

By every historical precedent, the Dec. 1 fight is for a lineal title.

                      No getting around it.
