By Thomas Gerbasi - Chris Algieri knew he wasn't done with boxing after his April 2016 loss to Errol Spence. "I think a lot of other people thought I was, but I always knew I was coming back," the Long Islander chuckles. "Where there's a will, there's a way." Algieri never lacked for will, and now the 34-year-old has found his way, with his first bout in over two years coming against Angel Hernandez at the

Crawford, Thurman and Porter all avoiding Algieri like the plague. Crawford supposed to be p4p but he's ducking Algieri. It is freaking pathetic.

This guy is a ham and egger that nobody should ever know his name. Some stinky banana peel that Arum threw into the pot to keep Manny busy that somehow hung around. Bob made it so Provodnikov got robbed of the WBA so he could feed it to Manny the next fight. Title fights = good bread. Arum is good, but he's not complete stealth. The whole thing was pretty obvious.

They better manage this guy damn well i can't believe he got the nod over Provodnikov. People talk about Horn robbing but Manny but damn. He needs to stick with the Erik Bone level guys before getting in there with the elite and losing. Actually Broner at 140 would be amazing lol.

Say what you want. Chris Algieri. He currently serves as nutritionist to middleweight Daniel Jacobs.

As an amateur Kick boxer, Algieri won the USKBA Northeast Championship defeating Kyle Murray. Algieri later turned professional, and won the International Sport Karate Association Welterweight and World Kickboxing Association Super Welterweight Championships, compiling a 20-0 record as a world kickboxing champion before retiring to become a professional boxer.

The guy is a wealth of knowledge. Long after his boxing career is over he will have a great future in the fight game.

I've liked Algieri ever since he upset Provodnikov, it was a great underdog moment and a well-deserved win. He's not really top level though, let's face it. There's guys out there he can beat but I really don't see him winning another world title. Like TJ says though, he's got a lot going for him in terms of knowledge and expertise, so maybe he'll be remembered some day as a better trainer than he was a fighter.

You know a fighter is past their prime when they are talking moving back down in weight. Like Hatton going back to 140.

Before they move up, its always, "Im struggling to make weight, I will be so much stronger at xyz" Then they cant compete with the bigger men and need their old size advantage, try to move back down at now an even older age. Donaire going way back to 118 or whatever is an example.

Algeri is 5'10'' with a 72" reach. He has a welterweight's frame. He is just a B-/C level fighter and cant compete with an A/B level fighter.
