  • Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara's Manager Expects Great Fight With Brian Castano

As BoxingScene.com reported a few days ago, former unified junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (25-3-2, 14 KOs) is getting himself ready for another tough fight, with undefeated WBA "regular" champion Brian Castano (15-0, 11 KOs).

Lara should chase money fights at this stage in career if can't get a fight vs Charlo, hurd or talk Spence, brook into a fight at 154 move up to 160 sign with dazn challenge Charlo Jacobs r money man canelo r GGG Lara speed and slickness he could beat GGG. Canelo n Lara already had an epic fight many people ? The results Jacobs is good but not great N Charlo hasn't been tested at 160 so would prob welcome a fight with a guy that just stepped up to 160

This will be a great fight. Castano could pull this off. I need to watch some film on him soon to be sure.

Damn Lara is really proving that he is the Cuban with the biggest balls out there. Castano is no ****ing Joke, he arguably won vs Derevyanchenko in the WSB...he is just as good, but this is in a division lower.

Welcome to the world of boxing!

What you say makes sense, except Lara is possibly the most avoided fighter of all time. Hurd won't do a rematch, Jermell won't dare fight him, and Brook is smart enough to stay away from Lara too.

At 160, he's tried getting g but he isn't Vanes so that isn't an option, Jermall and him share the same trainer and Jermall is waiting for Canelo, Jacobs isn't about to fight Lara...

Bottom line, there is not one top, big name, big money fighter that will even consider fighting Lara. The guy is the definition of super high risk and low reward. Lara is still probably the best at 154 and Hurd has lost all respect with refusing a rematch for what was the FOTY. No one wants Lara. Thus, he is left fighting the best of the rest.

Despite all the "calling out" he did, even in 2015, he was still insisting on fight at 154. There's a video of him that year being interviewed where a question was asked to him if he could fight at 160 and he repeated 154 several times. So all that talk of him fighting G at 160 seemed to be BS. I wish Abel didn't say the **** he did and had Golovkin fight Lara instead of Monroe but Lara was staying at 154 anyway. And it was still G's team who made the call to Lara's side. And we saw how that turned out.

g gave up a title so he could fight Vanes.

                Checkmate. You lose.

g chose to fight Dominique Wade instead of Lara. True story.

                You lose again.

g is off indefinitely as he needed total reconstructive surgery on his face from the beating Canelo gave him.

                You lose again.

Lara has been one of my fave fighters since he whooped Paul Williams, but after that Angulo fight he became his own worst enemy too defensive and wouldn't let his hands go as much. In the Nelo fight Lara lost to himself could of countered all night but never took those chances and allowed Nelo to work his body more than he should of. Regardless he will go down as an all time great in my book fought and schooled everybody that stepped in the ring with him. Dream match was always Mayweather jr vs Lara, when Floyd had straps at 154. Castano looks good lets see how he does against Lara.

You MUST watch Castano vs. Vitu! Castano bullied him from the first ding! I give much respect to Lara for accepting this fight! If you haven't seen Joey Spencer, check him out too!
