  • Comments Thread For: Joe Cordina Injured, Withdraws From Scotty Cardle Fight

JOE Cordina (8-0, 6 KOs) is out of his November 10 fight against Scotty Cardle (23-2-1, 7 KOs). The 26-year-old Welshman has suffered a hand injury and isn't expected to return before the end of the year. Cordina's manager, Ian Bird, told Boxing Scene that Matchroom will "reschedule that fight", with a date in early 2019 hopeful. It is unclear whether or not Cardle, the former British lightweight champion, will still feature on next month's show.

Gutted that Cordina is off the card. I may be biased due to him being a fellow Welshman, but for me it's a coin toss between him an Buatsi as to who's top of Hearn's class of Rio '16 prospects, with Kelly just behind. Okolie and Fowler are both looking a bit limited skill-wise while Yeleusinov has all the skill and no power.
I can't class Katie Taylor as still being a prospect, due to what she has already achieved in a short space of time.

It most certainly is now as I expect Tony to be only a bit part for a few rounds........I was looking out for Joe.

Sounds like it. As much as I like Usyk it's a definite pass from me

As you say really weak. Only two confirmed fights and two other TBA with ten days to go!

I think Eddie and matchroom are just struggling with the growth of going to so many match ups with the DAZN deal. I’m not sure going to Italy and Germany’s makes sense unless they have team up / partnerships and let them actually lead the events - they need to catch up and get through this growth.

I think Eddie needs to relinquish some of his power if I’m honest and allow others to own some of the fight nights, that maybe someone internally or it maybe something like doing a deal with David haye or Tennessey to let them effectively organize the event or two a year each ; and Eddie can fill a few extra fight Within it or something
