This guy was never a super elite prospect in the first place. Was very raw. When Hearn announced his signings, he made it seem like they were the top of the top, but that simply isn't the case. His latest signing in Pacheco? Now he is good, really good. Is he the best American amateur? Of course not, but he has a nice pedigree and I think he will deliver. Hearn is very good at what he does, but at times that gets him in trouble. He wanted to go after all of Haymon's top guys and his best signing from PBC fighters ended up being Jessie F'n Vargas. He acted like he signed the best prospects, and one already got hammered in his debut. Needs to slow it down a bit.

What he needs to do is go hard after Lorenzo Simpson, Marco Castro and Khalil Coe when they are ready to turn over. Right now offer HUGE deals to guys like Devin Haney and Jaron Ennis and see what happens. Not sure who his talent evaluator is stateside, but he's going after the wrong guys.

It's still early but I don't see anything like that yet.

U.K. football fans bring the atmosphere to the fights, every sporting event is an excuse for a piss up and a sing song, it doesn’t seem like you have the same culture

I definitely think he's one of the more creative thinkers who thinks of the fans & what they actually want or will enjoy beyond the actual fights more than most promoters so I think he will do something, but I think giving the guy a year or two to work out kinks & play around with sh^t is fair before you judge that angle of his US move.

The roster critique I think is more fair, but I think that even takes some time despite Hearn himself not thinking that to be the case. Hearn basically came out like Roc Nation did with some rag tag group of the best talent around that wasn't signed with anyone notable although a lot of that was cuz no one big wanted them anyway or seen them as a draw. So Eddie now has to make these guys look like they made the best decisions in their life to entice bigger names in the future & as Roc Nation never tried to do.
Pretty balanced and well thought out post, I don't know why there is such resistance to the guy from American fans, promoters I get, but fans? Very strange and nationalistic.

I can only think that they see what I see deep down, and that is that Hearn is very good and a very serious threat to the existing US boxing establishment. But surely that's a good thing for the fans, he is shaking things up, all of a sudden promoters got their fingers on the pulse again, you can feel the urgency within the boxing community.

I am a boxing fan. I just want to watch good boxers fight. That's good enough for me.I hate all that singing the English love so much. If I wanted singing and fun I'd go to a musical.

Well, why don't they just play the darn song and I'm sure the audience will play along with it.
I've seen it sang in many places and people just can't help singing along with it.
