WBA Super World Champion George Groves (28-3, 20 KOs) and WBC Diamond titlist Callum Smith (24-0, 17 KOs) performed with great mood and confidence at Tuesday's public workout ahead of their hotly anticipated Ali Trophy Super Middleweight Final on Friday at the Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Odd one this - should be a huge British fight, but the location makes it far removed. Not really even hearing anyone talk about it, very little press...

I think a lot of people are underestimating smith though. He fights well when he’s motivated it’s a shame this isn’t in the U.K.

I feel his stock has actually fallen in this tournament, 2 fairly close points victorys over not exactly great opposition. I wonder if he'd be best suited at LHW as he looks drained at weight. Should be a good fight.

I agree, due to the size of him, could box on the back foot, and keep groves on the end of his jab, sort of furyesque.don't remember groves fighting such a big gangly fella before, hoping for the saint though

Should be a great fight; both fighters up their game when the level of opponent warrants it, however Groves seems to switch on better against lesser opponents than Smith does, that's probably due to experience though. 2 things will decide the outcome, the state of Groves' shoulder being one. The other being how hard it is for Smith to make weight these days - the man is 6ft 3in and boils down to 12st on weigh day, that's got to take it's toll after a while.
Cant believe it's being staged in Saudi though, WTF?! If a final between 2 UK fighters can't be in the UK, at least stage it somewhere close - Monaco, for example seems to get used by Comosa & Matchroom from time to time.

Yeah size alone means he’s a problem for most super middleweights

Groves needs a loss every few years otherwise he becomes unbearable. He’s getting to that stage again where he becomes an arrogant wanker lol
