Comments Thread For: Bellew: If I Don't Stop After This, My Wife Will Divorce Me!

Tony Bellew is convinced he will beat Oleksandr Usyk and become undisputed world cruiserweight champion. Bellew challenges unbeaten Ukrainian Usyk who added the WBA and IBF titles to his WBC and WBO crowns in July by beating Murat Gassiev on November 10 at Manchester Arena.

Someone like Gassiev might be better on paper, but if you don't think Bellew's a live dog, you're crazy. You have to factor in the confidence level, Bellew is flying!

Guys like him who hit a purple patch later in their careers when they've tasted defeat, been up and down, gained the experience, are the most dangerous kind of underdogs.

If he actually wins I think him quitting is all but confirmed not to be going down. A rematch would be huge. Hell a fight with other CW or a HW might even be in play for a career high payday.

Personally I wished he'd have quit after the 1st or 2nd Haye win. That woulda been the most epic way to go out, but few cats in the entire history of the sport who've made their mark on some respectable level of the game ever seem to go out on a nice W so fair play on fighting til that L comes. I think Bellew will get his L vs Usyk.

ive always had a soft spot for bellew before everyone warmed to him and i'd like to see him pull it off but i cant see it happening at all. im not convinced he beats gassiev let alone usyk, that was david hayes corpse he was fighting in the last fight not the real thing

Bellew is a +525ish dog last I seen. Thats like saying he's got a 16% chance to win which I think is about right. I think this is a 90/10, 80/20 type fight. Don't know that I'd put that in "live dog" territory doe. I think the odds are about right for this fight & I wouldn't consider a 20% to win guy very much of a live dog.

This isn't likely to a very competitive fight & will look like a 80/20 type fight unless Usyk uncharacteristically phones it in or doesn't take Bellew seriously which I think is probably less likely to happen then Bellew's chances to win by a large margin.

I actually strongly lean towards Bellew suffering his 2nd KO loss.

To be fair to bellew he has had some amazing results and has had a brilliant career with his level of skill. Remember when he couldnt win a title for love nor money now if he wins this he is in the p4p rankings. Crazy how it works out.

I can see Bellew holding his own for a few rounds, even if he won't have much success landing, but Usyks workrate is insane for a Cruiser and I just don't think Tony will be able to live with the pace and will just start getting picked apart over the middle rounds. Dude's got a big heart though and won't give it up easy - can see his corner throwing it in after 9 or 10.
