Comments Thread For: Groves: We Are Supremely Confident of Beating Callum Smith

WBA Super World Champion George Groves (28-3, 20 KOs) and Callum Smith (24-0, 17 KOs) are both appearing in confident moods in the Pre Fight Documentary for the hotly anticipated Ali Trophy Super Middleweight Final on Friday 28 September at the Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Compared to the massively successful and damn near perfect CW tournament, I can't help but think the SMW tournament has achieved nothing, other than sort out who the best British fighter is. At the end of it we'll still have 4 beltholders and will be no closer to finding out who the true divisional best is.

Ring Magazine belt seems a bit much for Callum Smith whose best win is vs Rocky Fielding...

This is true. But, did the other contenders/belt holders show interest in competing? Their loss.

Smith hasn’t looked great his last two outings, I had high hopes a few years ago. He is a very tricky opponent for groves, but it does seem like groves experience should win through but I’d love to see a Mundo do it, seems like the nicest of the smith bros

A fight for the 4th Best Super Middleweight this thing has dragged so long I don't even care for this fight. Wouldn't pick the winner of this fight over David Benavidez (******* Jokes In Coming), Jose Uzcategui or Gilberto Ramirez to be honest

In fact, if I'm GGG I'm licking my chops at the winner of this one just to grab a 168 Title and to have that under his belt

4th best? Groves would beat all 3 of those you mentioned especially the coke head. None of them fought a top 10 smw. Ramirez beat a old & tired Abraham.

This is a big fight at 168, you have to respect this tournament to a degree, but I like your comment about GGG going for that belt at 168, damn that's a sweet thought.
