  • Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Canelo Could Be Afterthought If He Doesn't Satisfy Fans

Abel Sanchez sees September 15 as an opportunity for Canelo Alvarez to redeem himself as much as anything. Gennady Golovkin's trainer obviously hopes Alvarez loses their rematch that night. But even if Golovkin beats Alvarez in their second middleweight title fight, Sanchez still thinks the Mexican superstar can regain credibility among some detractors if he fights in a more fan-friendly way than he did during his controversial 12-round draw with Golovkin last year.

I asked a random co-worker the other day, I asked who will win.
He said "I know Canelo, but I don't know who that Golopkin guy is".

      Canelo may become an afterthought?
If Golovkin can't beat Canelo then he may become a never heard of.

People will respect canelo coming to fight and putting it all on the line. What they wont respect is a drugs cheat running for another 12.

It'll be a minor setback all canelo has to do is demand a rematch or beat someone else and he'll be right back where he left off.

Most people do not even know who Abel is .... too funny. A GGG loss and he and GGG will be relative umknowns as they already are small fry B side personalities.

If this fight is going to be memorable, both GGG and Canelo must fight to win. Anything less, and fans will not be satisfied. Anything less, and they are both just a couple of palookas who will have provided video evidence as a reminder to boxing fans forever.

Seems Sanchez is urgent to have Canelo fight recklessly. I don't blame him. Was clear that Canelo got the better of many exchanges and if he ups his output this time, he'll be trouble. They need Canelo to go hard and tire himself.

Judging by what Abe keeps saying, I expect a VERY conservative approach from Golovkin.
