Comments Thread For: Anthony Mundine Faces a Big Weight Penalty in Jeff Horn Fight

According to The Daily Telegraph, former world champion Anthony Mundine faces a hefty fine if he fails to make weight for his much-anticipated showdown with Jeff Horn. Both fighters have agreed to weigh in at 71kg [156.5-pounds] or under, 24 hours before the fight and 75kg [165.3-pounds] or under an hour before the bout was scheduled to take place at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium in November.

Typical that this is the best Australian boxing can muster at the moment. Mundine is well past 40 and at least 6 years past his prime.
Horn is an awkward, bullying, grinding style of fighter, and I bet in Mundines dreams he imagines himself as Terence Crawford.

Mundine (I used to train at his gym, once had blinding hand speed, excellent reflexes, great punch selection but that has all slowed considerably, despite his teetotaller lifestyle. His idol is RJJ, and had Roy's father train him for some tears.

Unfortunately, he suffers from the same shaky chin his great Middleweight father did - who took on the great Carlos Monzon.

Horn is a huge Welterweight, so I can't see him giving away any noticeable disadvantages in size or power at roughly middleweight.

Horn is a pretender who got a free ride off of the back of a woeful hometown decision against Pac in Brisbane, but I do hope he reminds 'the man' that he ought to be retiring and start focusing some of that misguided energy into restoring Australian boxing.

      I Agree.
Australia is in desperate need of a true boxing star that we can all get behind.
I dont like Mundine so i hope Horn puts him into retirement.
This is a must win for Horn or he can say goodbye to anymore paycheques.

Call me a sucker but I'm riiiiiight behind this fight. I expect Horn to have his way with the man who is well past it at 43, Mundine winning would be a major upset i would love to see it.

Not a fan of either guy, but that just means there’s satisfaction to be derived from either one of them losing (though I’d prefer that Mundine lost.) Didn’t realise that the fight had already been confirmed.

The weight will kill Mundine the guy is a LH, he is nothing like the Kessler Mundine, but he can box and can be hard to tag but with the weight his legs will be heavy.

Horn did not beat Pac, his former belt was a fluke and was easily snatched by the real champ.
