If this all pans out for Harper and he's able to negotiate better pay in any future bouts that's cool, time will tell.

But I'm from the "truth is halfway in the middle" school of thought and as underhanded as promoters can be, I think Harper didn't have his shyt together on his business also. On top of that, he shortchanged the fans by going thru the motions of stepping into the ring and not performing what he was contracted to do.

A few have mentioned that he should have got his ducks in a row after he found out about the TV broadcast at weight in and had 24hrs to get it straight. Sounds about right.

Of course he didn't have his business together. He was to be used for cannon fodder. This is exactly what happens in the sport. Who was gonna be there to represent his best interests? He's a no name fighter without a promoter and probably doesn't have a manager either. When he saw he was being screwed and knew he didn't have any redress he just said fck it. I'm sure it was hard for him to walk away from that $6000 he was going to get. It's not like he's making a lot of money in the sport. He's a sparring partner probably getting $100 a round from Wilder and that's a good payday but not an everyday thing. I think he just had enough.
