Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis Backs Fury To Rise To The Occasion With Wilder

In the last few weeks, former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has praised Tyson Fury (27-0, 19 KOs) for stepping up to the plate to challenge WBC world champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs). Last Saturday night in Belfast, Fury dominated Francesco Pianeta over ten rounds for a unanimous decision victory - as Wilder sat at ringside for the fight.

Fury style is bad for Wilder. Fury is gonna style on him make him look more of an amateur than what he already does.

On the other hand, Wilder's style is not what Fury
is used to, either. Fury's style and footwork shines
against heavier set, less mobile fighters. Fury has
been dropped by some smaller, more agile fighters
who do not hit nearly as hard as Wilder.
Fury's style may not work well against a tall, rangy
man who can move from-A-to-B much faster than
he does. The clash of styles makes this a much more
interesting fight than we would have seen between
        Wilder-Joshua.

That goofy style is on a 260 lb gorilla. It's a matter of scale. What looks slow on a welter is fast on a heavy, but sooner or later Fury will taste Wilder's power. His size and conditioning matter to obsorb and keep moving.

Fury will win. He refers to deontay as a bum for a reason. A bum who hits hard.

I read the quotes in the article he doesn’t really **** on anyone. It just seems he gave an honest prediction on what he thinks will happen on an upcoming matchup. I don’t think he’s childish enough to cater his picks and views to what social media fans and message board say. He’s in his 40s. Aren’t you also?

Yes But it's still a pick em fight to me cause wilder is powerfull. The only thing Lewis lacked was a great chin. Where he was knocked out by one punch by 2 different guys. Holmes got up from that one punch by 2 different guys and won the fights. And Shavers is considered to be one of the best punchers ever

The Cunningham fight comes to mind; Wilder will be the more dynamic fighter in this fight

That's the one I was thinking of, too.
Cunningham scored the knockdown from in close,
but Wilder will be hitting Fury from across the ring.
Fury is agile for his size, but he's still nowhere near
as fast or athletic as Wilder. The more I think about
it, the more I lean towards Wilder, but it depends
on how their awkward styles match-up.
It's interesting, but it could become an ugly/boring
fight to watch. I am more sure that Wilder would
knockout Joshua than I am about the outcome of this one.
