"At a recent media day he held at his Las Vegas training camp, Porter said that he considers himself the #2 welterweight in the world at the moment."

Eye test says no but he could almost make the case of being #2 based off activity and resume (especially if he beats Danny).

Thurman would be #3 if he was active because he beat both Danny & Shawn. But Danny is #3 behind Crawford and Porter still needs to go through Danny and Crawford to be #2. And I’m not sure why Porter ranks himself ahead of Danny or what he is talking about looking at both his resume and Danny’s and their notable wins. And it’s not good thinking ahead to Spence.

Porter has 2 losses and a draw, Danny only has 1 loss. Porters best wins were against Paul Malignaggi, Devon Alexander, Adrien Broner, and Andre Berto. Danny’s best wins were against Zab Judah, Amir Khan, Lucas Martin Matthysse, Lamont Peterson, Paul Malignaggi, Robert Guerrero, and Brandon Rios.

Danny is clearly #3 right now.

I think he said he would be #2 if he beats Danny so the debate of who should be ranked higher amongst the two is moot. The winner will decide. Otherwise, I agree. With Thurman out, should be Spence #1, Crawford #2 and the winner of Garcia vs Porter #3.

I don’t see how Porter would even leap frog over Crawford by winning a vacant belt up for grabs by beating Danny. Now I can see Danny leaping up to #2 if he wins because of all the other notable wins he has in the division already and having only 1 loss on his record.

I hear what you are saying but some might say that beating Danny for a vacant belt is a bigger accomplishment than beating Horn for a belt.

If Thurman were active he'd be #1 and the winner of Porter v Garcia is tied with Spence for #2.

I don't understand how people have Crawford even ranked at WW. He's fought literally nobody. Spence at least has the 1 win against Brook to stand on, even if it was a weight drained damaged Brook.

I think Spence v Porter could be a really good all-action matchup if it happens.

Seriously, Spence was right that Porter only mentions fighting him when he has a fight lined up. Like clockwork. Kenny tried to have him say BS like he isn't even ranked in the top 15 of the IBF as if that matters. Spence defended his belt against Peterson in a voluntary defense. He could have fought Porter in another voluntary defense in June as his mandatory defense wasn't called yet. Now, I don't blame Porter for waiting it out as he was the next man up for the WBC title, but I want this same energy if both guys are able to get by the Garcia's.
