  • Comments Thread For: Sor Rungvisai Never Expected To Achieve So Much Success

For WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, the hardships came early in life. With his Muay Thai career going nowhere, Srisaket discovered professional boxing, which gave him the impression that it could be his ticket out of poverty due to the sport's profitability.

It's incredible to think that he lost his first two pro fights by ko/tko and after 5 fights his record was W1 D1 L3. Since then his only loss was when Cuadras couldn't continue. He keeps so cool when the fire is raging all around him and he fully deserves to be in a top 5 p4p list. An impressive little man.

It's a real underdog story - I think he could have become a real icon in this sport if only he was in a higher weight class. As it is he's still enjoying some well-deserved success and I hope it continues, he's one of my favourites right now.

yeah, apparently he switched to boxing from martial arts, and had no real training or money or anything in his first 5 or so fights. he just set up the fights, and went there fighting off of instinct.

One of the best stories in boxing. When people in America say they've had a hard life, I believe them. But their lives don't even compare to what fighters in these Asian countries had to go through. The poverty just doesn't compare.
