I'm not sure what happened with his legal problems, but I'm sure Kovalev and Duva wish they had stuck with their original plan of fighting Marcus Browne instead of Storm Alvarez.

Everything becomes clear AFTER the fact.

How much of an underdog was Alvarez again going into the fight!?!?

Alvarez was an underdog & unappreciated.
Who at light heavyweight would not have been an underdog
against over-rated Kovalev up until last night? I don't think
Alvarez is the only light heavyweight who was capable of
doing that to him either. Any of the top guys would have
beat him just the same. Kovalev might have beaten Browne, though.

            Overrated? Open to debate.
I do not think he was overrated which does not mean he cannot be beaten.

Any of the top guys would have beaten him just the same? .. Hmm... i my doubts about that.

As diminished as he has become it takes some one with pedigree, guile and the ability to invest to the body and to use the ring well AND to to take a good punch to best him.
Ward and then Alvarez have those attributes.

Not sure about just "Any of the top guys" in the division doing the same..assuming Kov has anything left at this point.
