Comments Thread For: Roach: Golovkin is My Friend - But I Lean To Canelo in Rematch

On September 15th, during Mexican Independence Day weekend, the world will finally get the rematch between Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. Their first fight, which took place last September ended in a controversial split draw. Like the first fight, the rematch will take place in Las Vegas and will be distributed by HBO pay-per-view.

Thanks, Freddie, but I'm going to wait until I see the fight. Thinking this over, I'm wondering if it is Freddie's way of saying that GGG must win by knockout - anything less, and the fix is in for Canelo.

... basically, what Roach said is that Golovkin is old... which, of course, he is...

GGG is aging but he's still got enough for Canelo when he's not juicing. GGG by wider decision or a KO/TKO late.

He's probably right. Seeing as how GG couldn't hurt him, or out box him in the first fight, it really came down to Canelo throwing it away by choosing to show off his defense and not focus on output. I have a hard time believing Canelo will make such a ****** mistake this time and ignore his team again. If he does though, I hope GG gets justice this time. GG went the slow and steady route last time and really should have won.

If 3G is as good as many say he is he wins. I don’t care if he’s past prime. Should still be enough to beat him. Ggg is on borrowed time.
But he’s still got a few good wins in him.
