  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker-Dillian Whyte: Staking a Place in Line

By Cliff Rold - Joseph Parker could probably have taken the soft landing. Just four months ago, the 26-year old New Zealander was the WBO heavyweight titlist, traveling to the UK for a chance to add Anthony Joshua's WBA and IBF belts to his mantle. Parker (24-1, 18 KO) fell short. The prize of saying he was the first man to take Joshua (20-0, 19 KO) the distance was surely small consolation. Two judges gave him a pair of rounds apiece, the other only a single frame...

I like Cliffs work here at boxingscene, but this article is a complete JOKE! Harder-road for Joseph Parker and Dillian Shyte? more like what makes more sense financially as Parker ducked Bryant Jennings and Shyte ducks Luis Ortiz and Kubrat Pulev! and talking about the health of the sport?! In Whytes case clogging up the division by refusing to participate in WBC and IBF eliminators?

Theres nothing new here, business as usual ; the HW's are the scariest bunch in all of boxing! You try to get these guys to compete in a WBSS I'll wait.....

        Parker didn't duck Jennings.

Pfffft...There's just no point fighting him!

Not for the money and not to get any closer to a title shot again.

Whyte is the riskier, harder fight with more reward.

I enjoyed this article. Some interesting insight into a complex map that is the chess match of match-making.
I'm not over-excited by this fight, but I appreciate it.
I've always given Parker kudos for staying busy and taking the harder fights.

I still can't determine whether he's just peaked at the wrong time given the bigger, seemingly better Joshua and Wilder, or Parker has just peaked and doesn't have what it takes to finish off an opponent.

It seems a lot of fighters lose their vaunted power when they step up to the world-class level.

I'm still waiting on Whyte vs. Parker getting their fight sanctioned as a 'Eliminator' for a world-title by the WBO... because you know Eddie Hearn is trying to finesse his way around the WBC and IBF, and the WBA don't even recognize these two chickens!

Joey Boy agreed to fight the ranked American Bryant Jennings but he knows Shyte pays more and is overrated, EASY-WORK!
