I am beginning to think Teddy Atlas is really not the best of trainers. I know this is random. What fighter has teddy built from the ground up and won a belt with? I remember way back he didn't want Povetkin to fight for the belt.

I think Teddy is a good motivator but in order to be a good coach/trainer you need to have more than just that one quality.

He is obviously a good trainer but I don't think for whatever reason he makes the greatest coach, sometime fighters/people are uncoachable i.e. Kovalev.

Once coach who is underrated but I think is very good is Rob McCracken. He coaches the GB Olympic squad and was Froch's trainer. - This brings on an interesting perspective... Sometimes it's the trainer that makes the fighter, Froch openly admits that he would not be the same fighter he was without McCracken.

I recall it well Atlas snapping ‘what is it are you guys contractually obligated to ask when is the Klitschko fight happening ?’ He couldn’t keep Povetkin far enough away from Wlad, I guess Teddy knows his boxing and it was in his interests to delay that fight as long as humanely possible, Fury did a good job of that too ducking eliminators etc until the fight literally had to happen. It’s a shame Wlad never got chance to face all the guys he fought in his last few years in his prime.

Trainers dont build fighters !

They work around and develop what a fighters capable of .

Moorer would never had won a title or be as good without Atlas , you cant magically take anyone and make them a champion .

Had Moorer actually had listening skills he also goes on to defeat Foreman .

Atlas was also crucial in the early development of Mike Tyson in the ams besides Damato ! With again working with a natural athletic power puncher Atlas like any trainer would have a great advantage with such a fighter .

M.Steward was able to build Klitchko from the an entire different style bxc Klitchko was an elite talent ...... its on the fighter not the trainer to excell , the trainer can only advise you they cannot fight for you .
