LIAM SMITH will be fired up by critics who have trashed his chances of taking the WBO super-welterweight title challenge from Jaime Munguia in Las Vegas on Saturday July 21. Munguia, 21, has won all 29 professional fights with 25 wins coming by KO. He caused an upset in May when he ripped the title from Sadam Ali - stopping the defending champion in four rounds.

I think munguia is rightfully the favourite and he looks better than Williams who doesn't really let his hands go much, the munguia guy does maybe waste a bit of energy by loading up so much but from what I've seen against limited opposition he should have the beating of smith? Who is limited himself cause he is too robotic and not getting the power or head movement, he can't fight on the back foot either, once munguia tee's off on him he will probably go into his shell and get waved off. Unlike Callum who is huge at the weight no other joe gallagher fighter is really any good are they? Not away from home against a live body? lol. Quigg did well but he was matched easily, the writing was on the wall when he drew with that cuban who was not very good was he.

I'm well aware that the two fighters I'm about to mention are not in the same division. The favorite to win the IBF world featherweight title was Lee Selby against Josh Warrington and look what happened. Warrington shocked everyone when we were so certain it would be Selby who would win the title to unify. I do like Munguia despite him getting a lot of backlash when they suggested him as a Canelo replacement for GGG, but an upset with Smith is possible given that Munguia does get hit a lot. In other words, the kid lacks defense which I'm hoping he works on. I don't know if Smith is a hard puncher or how much punishment he can take, but if he isn't dangerous, there are other welterweights that are. Needless to say, Munguia is 21, even if he were to lose this fight, he's not gonna go away. He's young and a hungry fighter that will continue to progress in his game. Now we know Spence wants to have another fight before the end of this year, depending on the outcome of this Saturday night, imagine if his next opponent turned out to be Munguia? Munguia would take the fight regardless cause the kid doesn't care who he fights. He's just appreciative that he's happy where he's at in his career. Which begs the question, would Spence be game to take on Munguia or is it too soon to have 2017's prospect of the year to be matched with the second best ranked welterweight (since Thurman is TBD) in the division?

            I quite like the fight.

Let's be honest, Sadam Ali had no business being at 154 fighting a guy that size, despite beating an old shot inactive Cotto.

Smith is pretty tough, a good size LMW and i'd say it's Munguia's biggest test so far. I expect Munguia to win but if he deals with Smith easily, it'll be quite impressive.

What a story it would be if I won a spot on the starting 5 for the LA Lakers! Sadly, it ain't going to happen. I will concede though that Smith's chances of winning this fight are a better than my chances of glory on the hardwood floor in LA. On a more serious note, Smith is going to make it a fight. We will get to see how Mungia responds... a good test for him.

Lian Smith should not talk to much so that he will not suffer the faith of Ricky Hatton!?
