Comments Thread For: DiBella: Prograis Boxing's Best 140-Pounder; Will Be a Big Star

Regis Prograis' promoter is sure the unbeaten knockout artist is about to become "a big star." Lou DiBella considers Prograis the best 140-pound boxer in the sport and the type of compelling figure who will secure more fans as he gets greater exposure. That process starts Saturday night, when Prograis, who evacuated New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, will fight in his hometown against Argentina's Juan Jose Velasco.

I hope him and Taylor are on opposite sides of the draw. Would make a great final

No he wont. Crawford is arguably the best fighter in the world and he will never be a household name.

Yes I've said the same, those two seem to show the most talent out of the bunch. That's a real 50/50 fight
          Both got power and skills.

Yeah, I can see Prograis being on the Thurman, Charlos, Spence type star level.

If he cleans out 140 and gets a fight with Mikey Garcia and if he manages to beat Mikey he will definitely be up there. If he does that and moves up to challenge at 147 later, then he'll be at an even higher star level for himself.

Any brits here? What's up with the recent backlash against Taylor? I feel like he was getting nothing but praise not too long ago. Now I'm seeing a fair amount of criticism on social media.

I would love a local take on it.

Because he fought a hard fight and won a well deserved victory against Postol but the corrupt judges had ridiculous scorecards. Instead of talking about how Taylor is becoming one of Britains top fighters we are talking about these horrible cards. No wonder nobody wants to go to Scotland to fight.

Ah I understand now. I tend to accept that in those sort of fights, somebody got to a judge and made a little bit of money. Mayweather v. Canelo comes to mind. That's what i call "harmless corruption" in the sport. It's annoying but I firmly believe its a thing behind the scenes.

lots of push for this kid recently, makes me wonder what kind of money is actually behind him? I don't know that he's ready for the big show quiet yet but he's on his way to making a splash.

I honestly think he's a bit green and raw when it comes to his defense and style, but he has that brut strength and can crack, which is a major plus. his chin has been decent but he hasn't been in with any real killers, so until we see that, and until we see him slice through tougher opposition, I will remain reticent about him...

I eagerly await to see him take the top spot, best of luck to him, it's his for the taking.
