  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Matthysse Must Force The Action on Pacquiao

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has advised his fighter, WBA "regular" welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse, to force the action on Manny Pacquiao when they collide on Sunday night [Saturday in America] in Malaysia. De La Hoya himself was battered and stopped by Pacquiao back in 2008, and it was the final fight of De La Hoya's career.

This is exactly whats gonna get LM knocked out. Oscar is an idiot. I really liked golden boy better when Schaefer was in charge. Oscar is just really full of it. He make alot of outlandish statements at times and he holds grudges like a female. If he claims to no longer be the president of golden boy then why is he always the one talking? Smh

he cant outbox manny in my opinion. he has to make it rough like horn did, or like how maidana fought floyd in the first match. but the thing is lucas doesnt have the size to do that so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I feel like Lucas should really try to time and counter Pacquiao. We all know he's not JMM, but having a similar approach to JMM in that last fight is his best shot IMO.

I suspect that he is hyping Manny because he expects Lucas to win and he wants to parlay that into a bigger fight for Lucas. The value of the victory would be diminished if Oscar says that Manny is washed up. It is pretty much the same approach when Golovkin and his team were hyping Vanes Martirosyan before their fight. It would have diminished GGG's value if he were to say Vanes is a stiff who has no business being in the ring with me.

                  Pac-Man by TKO in 8th.

Matty isn’t the same fighters as he was, he is too slow, even this version of Pac-Man puts a beating.
