  • Comments Thread For: Jose Ramirez vs. Antonio Orozco in Play For September 14

Four days after Jose Ramirez's last opponent couldn't make weight, his handlers have secured another challenger who has repeatedly struggled to make the 140-pound limit. According to a Yahoo! Sports report Tuesday night, Ramirez will defend his WBC super lightweight title against Antonio Orozco on September 14 in Fresno, California. ESPN will televise Ramirez-Orozco from Fresno State University's SaveMart Center.

If he can't make the weight, put the fight at a catch weight or move up.

Why would Orozco continually struggle to make 140 and not move up? Seems like this option could end up in another cancelled fight.

        It's solid if it happens.

This would actually be a fight that Ramirez could lose and very likely would be a WAR! I would very much like to see this

Does Antonio have to give up eating? Arum looking for an edge after swerving Rougarou. He doesn't have any confidence in Jose.

Orozco's been in the gym training for another fight that was supposed to take place a couple weeks before this so I don't think he'll struggle too bad to make 140 for this one.

I checked his boxing rec weights. He's made weight in his last two fights, so maybe he'll be fine.

But those were two of the three or four times he's ever made 140.

He's clearly not doing a safe cut.

Hope this one happens though. It would be the second best fight on ESPN this year.

Yeah fingers crossed for this one. It'd be all action.

Cool, we don't have to wait too long for this one. 140 is heating up.
