  • Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao and Boxing's Endless Circle

By Tris Dixon - THEY were heady days, when Manny Pacquiao scorched a terrifying path to the pinnacle of the pound-for-pound lists. But they were also a long, long time ago. One-hundred-and-fifty rounds have passed since he stopped a man, something he used to find dazzlingly routine. They were viciously glorious, champagne days that seemed never-ending...

LOL @ "Boxing has claimed another scalp"
We all get old, and no man wants to be forced to retire before he feels ready, or while there are millions to be made. Boxing didn't scalp Manny, Manny scalped boxing, and congratulations to him for it. Sure, Pacquiao is passed his prime, but that's your hangup if you can't deal with seeing your idol getting older. The man can't be blamed for wanting to extract every cent he can before he eventually HAS TO retire.
It would have been nice to see him retire with Roach by his side, but some of Roach's comments have shown Manny that Roach has little confidence left in him. BuBoy is obviously just a yes-man and a cling-on, but if Manny is happy then that's all that matters. He's in the twilight of his career, and just trying to put some icing on the cake. Weather he beats Lucas will not affect, in my mind, the legacy that he's already created.

          That was Pacquiao's prime? Sad.
He was in his prime when he was beating Morales, De La Hoya, and Cotto. He's been slowly declining for many years now. He didn't have to be in his prime to beat Vargas, Algieri, or to go 2 out-of-three against Bradley.

You can't tell sometime, because I just got done arguing with somebody who was trying to say Manny had Floyd "staggering" all over the place. It can be hard to recognize intelligent sarcasm when it's surrounded by so much idiocy.
