Comments Thread For: Sullivan Barrera vs. Sean Monaghan in Play For August 18

Light heavyweight contender Sullivan Barrera already has a date, an opponent and a location for his expected return to the ring in what would be his second bout of 2018 and a relaunch ramp in his career. Barrera will return to the ring on August 18 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and he's going to face the once-beaten Sean Monaghan (29-1, 17 KO) with the hope that a win will return him to the conversation of a world title.

Not an ideal fight for Sean to say the least.

    Hope he’s getting well paid.

Yeah seanie is a tough guy but Sullivan's skills I feel are a level above what seanie can handle

I don't think there's been a bigger mutual promotional blunder than not making Joe Smith Jr. vs Seanie Monaghan in the aftermath of Smith's win over Hopkins. That would have been a big money fight, both guys from the same area with big local support, both limited boxers but with aspects to their games that made for fan-friendly fights, Monaghan still undefeated and Smith coming off a huge prestige win. Would have done gangbusters. Instead they both opted to get smashed up by far superior opponents like brainlets and what could have been a massively profitable fight got ruined. Barrera already thrashed Smith, now Monaghan gets to have it happen to him as well, making the fight even less attractive.

Good fight but Sulli B will never get a strap because of that glass jaw.

Glass jaw? He lost once by KO to arguably the hardest hitter in the division. He just didn’t get out of the way

Monaghan career highlight is a UD against Donovan George... Barrera definitely has to storm trough him to preserve his legitimacy...
