  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo Wants To Fight Again in December

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), the Mexican superstar is very motivated to fight for a second time in 2018. Canelo has been inactive since September 2017, when he fought to a controversial twelve round split draw with WBA, WBC, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

This rematch should have happened in Mexico. What's the point of fighting some bum like Spike in Mexico?

He can fight a bum in Mexico after the loss and juice.

As Crawford would say, "Focus on yo fight for you not make it to your fight."

Yep they'll see to it he gets the decision this time especially if they plan for real to have him fight just 3 months after. But realistically he won't fight again until May 5th. They are on the Sprayweather trip where fighting once a year is the norm.

Funny, he never wants to fight in December when it's Golovkin. Not last year in the rematch or the year before (although he did have a Thumb injury iirc, still shouldn't sideline you for 8 months), but was able to fight Cotto in December np.

Coincidence, or does it seem more of a motivation associated to ageing your opponent?

sounds to me like they are setting up the Lemieux/Spike winner to fight Canelo in December..... possibly in Mexico

sort of like a thank-you showcase for fans to celebrate his victory over Golovkin

fk yea, that would be really nice

Not going to happen. Fighters are never the same after they face GGG. To repair eye socket is more complex than the knee and the recovery is much longer.

                  Golovkin's " lost " scalps

                  what a fkn idiot loooool

the only thing Golovkin " lost " is his mojo when he failed to back up his big mouth by avoiding top opponents to fight scrubs

I am not gonna read your fanboy dribble, but do you have Derevyanchenko in there? ahahah

According to Sanchez: “Gennady likes to chop down trees.” Be patient.
