  • Comments Thread For: Parker's Promoter Wants Better Officials For Fight Against Whyte

Joseph Parker's promoter is lobbying for better officials than he feels have worked each of Parker's last two fights in the United Kingdom. David Higgins has made the British Boxing Board of Control well aware that he is displeased with the officials for Parker's majority-decision win against England's Hughie Fury and the former WBO heavyweight champion's unanimous-decision loss to Anthony Joshua. The BBBC has not yet assigned judges and a referee for Parker's fight against London's Dillian Whyte on July 28 at O2 Arena in London.

I'm confused... didn't Parker's team select the referee for the Joshua fight?

That's a reasonable request to make as a promoter.

I remember Duco events winning the purse-bid for Hughie Fury and yet Parkers team found themselves in the UK defending his WBO HW title. I remember Parkers team requesting a non-Brit official for Anthony Joshua, but failed to make the obvious demand of having a American official to preside over the most important fight of Joey's career -- Yes it can be done ask Wladimir Klistchko.

Now here we go again, taking a back seat to Dillian Shyte! You see what they do over there and you keep playing the victim. There is a reason why Anthony Joshua will not fight outside the UK -- Joseph Parker and co have no excuses, a terrible team, a poorly managed fighter.

I also edge Whyte in this fight, he can decision Parker, especially if Parker starts to back off after first solid punch from Whyte.

                  Talk about re-writing history.

                  This from kiwi media:

Higgins had his matchmaker Stuart Duncan review the Italian's performances before signing off on the referee.

"Stu watched every minute he could find of that referee. Stu is a very opinionated guy and knows his stuff. When he said, 'the guy is solid and there's no reason to rock the boat', Kevin Barry and I accepted that. Kevin also had a look and seemed happy."

Parker gets my respect, AJ and his stadium full of fans didn't shake him. Parker fought his fight, it looked the same vs Andy Ruiz, AJ was out there reaching for space. Parker may not be all that (depends on who's talking) but he will put his show on the road. He's not hiding at home hoping opportunity comes knocking.
