also, if Golovkin had accepted Saunders offer to fight in June..... he would have complete control of his future..... he would be the undisputed middleweight champion of the world..... and he could easily fight Canelo in September

Pretty sure had Golovkin agreed to fight Canelo, he would've been stripped anyway. Not sure what "favors" the IBF did for him, except making him, Loeffler, and Abel Sanchez mindful of the fact that they don't run anything.

IBF stripping him had nothing to do with his negotiations. His team is trying to get him the most money possible and trying to use Canelo's license revocation due to a failed test as leverage to get a higher split.

GGG always had the option of dumping the belt in the trash can if he didnt want to pay the fee.

A Canelo fight would always be GGG's highest pay day regardless of the IBF fee and regardless if he takes 35% or 50%. IBF stripping GGG didnt make him realize this, that was true all along. IBF could go bankrupt and shut down tomorrow and it would still hold true.

This is the second time the IBF has seemingly stripped a unified/undisputed fighter with little or no notice.

These Arsch-holes stripped Terence 'bud'Crawford a mere two weeks after he became undisputed Jr Welterweight champ- a modern one too- he held all five belts, which is an amazing feat in itself, it wasn't that long ago you needed the WBA/WBC; then it became the WBA/WBC/IBF; then the WBO was added, and now we are on the cusp of the IBO being recognised as a major belt.

This stinks to high heaven. Sure GGG refused to fight and became comparatively inactive after the Jacobs fight while pursuing Canelo, but the guy has worked his butt off to try and unify the division, something the fans want to see in the ambition of a fighter- this kind of treatment will surely motivate fighters to become Adonis Stevenson's content with one belt and one fight a year.

What a great future for boxing we have in store. I think we are starting to see the end of undisputed champions, unified will happen, but a reigning king of a division is sure to become more rare as time goes on.
