Comments Thread For: Lawrence Okolie Blasts Out Luke Watkins, Adds Commonwealth

Lawrence Okolie flattened Luke Watkins to add to his title tally. The WBA Continental champion, who won the aforementioned title with his points victory over Isaac Chamberlain at the O2 Arena in London, added the Commonwealth belt to his collection with a devastating display.

Impressed with Okolie tonight. Body work was good early on, and the finishing was savage, although the ref didn’t do Watkins any favours as he was virtually stood on him when the decisive blow was landed.

With his size and awkwardness, Okolie is going to be a handful for anyone at the weight. I imagine Usyk & Gassiev will have moved up to Heavy by the time he’s ready for a world elite level fighter, so that works in his favour too.

Commentators compared him to Wilder tonight which seemed apt, he has that awkward long style. He’d possibly be a good sparring partner for Joshua when the Wilder fight it signed.

How can Commacho be #1 contender, with fighters out there such as Jai Opeloa, Matt Askin & Denton Daley? Okolie has plenty of options. Surely Askin with British & Commonwealth title's on the line has to take priority. £ddie Hearn could also work on getting Lawrence a crack at EBU champ Yves Ngabu on his next Monaco show.
