Comments Thread For: Hearn: If Joshua-Povetkin in September, Wilder is Then February

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs), says a showdown with WBC champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) is looking more likely for February of next year. The two sides are negotiating, but their discussions are dragging out - with neither side budging on the fight location.

Thats assuming Joshua beats Povetkin lol.

But yea who's surprised by this. Sounds more like The Plan than a possible future option. Been saying from jump street Hearn doesn't want this fight right now. And I feel like a mandatory or something will pop up in the future which will make Wilder a less then great option next time out to potentially to string fns along a lil further.

We shall see. Personally just hoping its next. I hate the build up & marination.

AJ-Wilder is another Juanma-Gamboa. Too much time in the oven.

You don't gamble with a 50 million offer unless a part of you really doesn't want to fight that person imo haha but if it happens in February then that is not too bad. I can live with that.

There's always going to be some kind of road block on Joshua's end.

"I think it will get done but the WBA are asking us every day and we are extending this negotiation period all the time. At the moment, we are fighting Povetkin. I think we have to make a call by the end of the week really"

                  Me thinks Hearn slipped.

Hearn Just gave an interview where he said Wilder's options were September, December, or February. Now it's September of February. Comments above plus the erroneous information coming directly from the person who is supposedly negotiating, fights not happening. Hearns slip let it be known they already planned to fight Povetkin and that $50 million offer just prolonged the inevitable. February hopefully.
