  • Comments Thread For: Alvarez: Adonis Stevenson Likely Retires After Two More Fights

Unbeaten light heavyweight contender Eleider Alvarez does not expect WBC world champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KOs) to continue fighting for much longer. Stevenson, 40 years old, has averaged one fight per year since 2015. He returned to the ring last month in Toronto, and nearly got derailed in a twelve round majority draw with Badou Jack.

Boxing Organizations should not allow 40yr.old to fight. This age should be the mandatory retirement.

There's a big chance that he will retire right now (if the WBC forces him to fight Gvozdyk).

Hopkins, Foreman, and Floyd did OK (Even Stevenson had a good fight). It really depends on the fighter.

Sick & tired of hearing Alvarez talk about getting a shot at Stevenson. Mando for years, but kept accepting step-aside money allowing ASS ( haha ) to take other fights. No one to blame but himself for not forcing the champ into the ring.

That's a board judgment and is **illegal*** in America to not allow employment due to some bodies age! That's a major lawsuit.

it is actually worse than that...the dude didnt even get a step aside check for 3 whole years...he just wasnt interest in fighting stevenson for the amount offered each time..stevenson has one punch changing power..would u fight him for 150k to 300k if u're already well past your 30th birthday like alvarez and have barely made a total of 1 million in boxing likely?? I sure as hell wouldnt if i could get 250k-500k for an easier bute and pascal fight.

I was hoping he'd fight Kovalev but that ain't gonna happen!! That sucks!! Oh well he needs to retire soon anyway he almost got his @$$ whooped by Jack, if Jack didn't fight scared early he might have stopped Stevenson or at least be champion now!!

... All I know is that Stevenson, Beterbiev, and Alvarez are all under Yvon Michel (and Al Haymon)... and that Beterbiev managed to sue Michel... anything else?...
