Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo to Canelo: Stop Eating Bad Meat, Come Back to '54!

If promoters for Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin can't close a deal for them to fight September 15, Jermall Charlo is one of Golovkin's potential opponents for his next fight. Houston's Charlo (27-0, 21 KOs) is the WBC's interim middleweight champion and the mandatory challenger for Golovkin's WBC 160-pound championship. Jermall Charlo's twin brother, Jermell, gave Alvarez a suggestion Thursday for the fight he thinks the suspended superstar should pursue if he doesn't face Golovkin next.

Everyone will start calling out Alvacheat because he is a fraud and an average fighter MINUS the PED’s in his body. He starting taking that s...early on in his career. This isn’t the first time he ate, “contaminated meat,” as he calls it. He just got caught this time, that’s all.

But the Charlos remind me of Terry Norris for some reason. And I believe their chins are suspect like Norris. What happens when they really get hit. They haven’t been tested yet. I see one or both getting knocked the f....out against better competition. But I don’t see Hurd out boxing either of them. He isn’t skilled enough.

if he fought Lara everyone would say he's fighting an old man coming off a loss. Hurd would likely KO him. I'd like to see that fight. But I wouldn't be mat at seing Charlo vs Canelo either.

              Doe he's fighting Trout.
The guy Hurd nearly mutilated very recently.
              What are you talking about?

Before all the haters start talking ****:

                April 23, 2018:

Still, Hurd and his team aren’t in any particular hurry to get a contract signed to fight Jermell Charlo. Rodriguez indicated he and Team Hurd instead are looking perhaps to Kell Brook as the next opponent. Brook is the former IBF welterweight champion who recently moved up to 154 pounds after consecutive losses, both via knockout, to Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr. at 147.

“It’s definitely a fight that’s going to happen,” Rodriguez said of facing Jermell Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs). “Is it going to happen the very next fight? Probably not, but I think it may be after the next fight. Kell Brook was one of the fighters that called us out. In the last four fights, we had three southpaws, so we need to go ahead and start working on right-handed and get proficient again. Going into a fight with a guy like Charlo, you want to be at your best. You don’t want to be working on proficiency.”
