  • Comments Thread For: Spence on Crawford: Let Me Clean Up My Side of the Street First

With Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. scheduled to box a week apart next month, their much-anticipated welterweight showdown surely will receive more attention than ever. Whatever you read or hear, don't expect Crawford-Spence to happen any time soon. Spence said as much during a media day Tuesday at R&R Boxing Club in Dallas, where the unbeaten IBF welterweight champion is preparing for his mandatory defense against Carlos Ocampo on June 16 in Frisco, Texas.

Must see tv if and when those two fight, perfect contrast in styles.

This fight is a long way off, maybe 4-5 years. There will be time for that but meanwhile these guys need to beat everyone. Beat up Khan first someone and Pacquiao on the other side. Whoever knocks out Pacquiao will be considered great, the other guy might need to move up and beat Canelo before the Spence-Crawford fight can be made.

Spence; I'm the best everyone fears me.

        What about you fighting Crawford?

Spence; Let Me Clean Up My Side of the Street First

Spence and the great amateur Loma (who got beat by the "great" Salido) seem to forget how great they are as soon as someone mentions names such as Crawford and Garcia

Not a good answer Spence that would take upwards of another 2 years

This is more political than anything else. Crawford is going to be another Timothy Bradley, he would be fighting only on one side of the welterweights.

By 2019 Spence wont even be able to make 147 or it will be a liability to his performances.

Crawford was fighting at 140 and has not had ONE fight at 147 yet so how can some of you say that Spence cannot be the best at 147 when he has been fighting and winning in that division. Spence has nothing to prove at 147 that he has not already done. If anything Crawford has to come up and demand to fight the best, in which I believe he wants the fight. The promoters know how dangerous Spence is for any smaller fighter. Hopefully the fight happens in the fall.

sounds like a duck move to me. had this been any other fighter saying this the floyd fans would jump on it calling it a duck.

according to the floyd fans, crawford is the best fighter out there. so why is spence wasting time wanting to "clean up the street" first when he could just fight the best instead?

I get it not happening this year, but if Crawford gets by Horn and puts together another win or two by year’s end or early 2019, it has to happen next year.
