I originally didn't like the idea of pros participating in the amateur but after watching two pretty good pros in N'dam and Ruenroung get trounced in the early rounds I see no reason not to allow them to participate.

And I absolutely don't want to return to the previous scoring system where light taps got you the same amount of points as a solid and hurtful punch.

I agree with headgear but the old scoring system sucks too many guys that don’t throw body shots or committed punches which is bad for when they turn professional.

        Agree with comments on scoring.
        Old system ****** balls.

One fight i rocked this shorter stocky dude in 2 out of 3 rounds (couldn't finish him) and only got a split decision ffs. Got ****** into brawling instead of boxing. ****** in hindsight as i'm 6ft 3 but lesson learnt.

Actually, i also remember from that fight...i bit a piece of my mouthgaurd off (from punch i think) and it was in my mouth. When we tangled and ref broke us, i quickly turned around and not aiming at anything, spat it out. It landed straight on a judges desk! That may have been reason for SD haha. True story.

Couldn't care about headgear, go with whatever the latest research tells us is safest in regards to head trauma.

Amateurs boxing without headgear IS the old school way. That's how it used to be done and I'm glad that's how it is being done now.

he is right about the judges and the scoring, a number of judges were suspended after all those corrupt results we got in Rio, i.e. Michael Conlan fight.

the main issue for AIBA is their finances (well dodgy, cash for medals etc.) and the fact that AIBA's interim president, a Uzbek, has had sanctions against him from America for apparent connections to crime syndicates.

AIBA have raked up CHF15 million of debt prior to him coming in and they have "loans" with Azerbaijan who were apparently given preferential treatment in some tournaments.

Very real risk they will get banned from participation in Tokyo.
