Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington vs. Carl Frampton Could Go To Neutral Territory

Frank Warren is hoping to announce Carl Frampton's next opponent next week. Frampton (25-1, 14 KOs) was in Leeds on Saturday night to witness the thrilling battle between Lee Selby and Josh Warrington (27-0, 6 KOs), which saw the latter walk away as the new IBF Featherweight champion.

Sounds like Frampton's opponent in August isn't going to be as strong as we hoped. Probably a British guy like Galahad or Walsh or a solid but underwhelming foreigner like Servania or that Namibian who has popped up in the WBO rankings

      It's a shame.

Warren was pretty much saying its a certainty that the winner of Selby v Warrington was gonna fight Frampton then they backtracked soon as they got the belt.

Warren and Warrington are gonna try to hold that belt hostage, fighting mediocre opponents at Leeds Arena because the know he fan sell tickets in Leeds regardless of opponent.

Why not Gary Russell Jr at Windsor Park?

russell just had his yearly fight. no chance he fights again in 2018, let alone on 3 months notice against a world level fighter.

Next time you'll see him is summer 2019. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Russell just got paid 1.4m+ to fight Diaz.

How much do you think he would want to travel to Belfast?

He just wants to be able to say they are ducking Russell. It's his thing.

Warren says in this article that he's targetting Warrington vs Frampton before the end of the year, so he's not going to pit Frampton against someone even tougher than Warrington in a preliminary bout. It'll be an opponent who almost certainly won't beat Carl but has just enough credibility to convince the public to buy tickets

Russell keeps ducking out of having a consistent and solid career.

His first 20 opponents were v TBA and then he's fought once a year since then. Waste of a talent in some ways.
