Who is the best boxer with the least amount of athletecism?

Someone who only got by with his boxing skills. No quick footwork, no Special anything.

Should that guy be the one to learn fundamentals from?

Boxing skills but no footwork?? What does that even mean? In boxing, the punches start at the feet. If you don't have the feet, you don't have good boxing skills.

Now, there are guys with very efficient movement, who don't leap around the ring a lot. Good boxers are still on point with the footwork though.

Maybe you mean like AJ or Canelo? Guys who don't move around a lot, but have solid technique. Is that it?

          @ the bold.

I think he means boxers who are all skill, and aren't particularly gifted athletically. The type that aren't gonna beat a dude to the punch if they both set off at the same time, or who won't knock a dude out with one shot.

I assume he means those dudes who use in ring IQ and skills to win, and not rely on physical gifts.

I just don't think he was able to articulate what he wanted to say well enough.

Boxing skills and athleticism are two different things. There are plenty of people who would make awful athletes. Guys like James Toney, Duran, Ward, Vitali, Foreman, Luis Ortiz, Golovkin, Frampton.

                Mickey Garcia hands down.

He's the most fundamentally sounds fighter right now. Text took boxing, he's not even dirty in his approach.

He's not athletic at all, I mean, I don't think he's the kinda guy who back flip, run fast, jump high...

But he's physical specimen in his way too, he's a dense bone, strong dude with a solid chin.

Nelo and Josh are athletic cats.

An athletic guy to me is a guy who can run 100 meters fast, jump quite high, throw a hammer, javelin far ect... for lighter men: can do some freak stuff like back flipping (Breadman always brought up back flip as a sign of solid athleticism and I agree with him) .

Not saying Nelo and Josh can back flip, they heavy dudes.

Athleticism mainly rely on explosiveness then flexibility.

A guy like Tank is pretty athletic, Roy was a hell of an athlete, young Floyd, somehow Pac and Loma.

I think what TS is looking for is Mikey Garcia.

Dude is a strong hard nosed beast but I can't picture him running that fast, jumpinp nigh or back flipping around despite being a "light" man.

But he looks to me like a pure master boxer, even his power comes from the way he perfectly throw those shots.
