Why are people acting as if Mikey Garcia is a cruiserweight?

Dude is 5'6 and has fought most of his career at featherweight. He looked a little tubby at 140lbs to be honest.

Sure, Lomachenko was smaller than Linares, but so is Mikey: He's 2 inches shorter than Linares with a smaller reach.

I don't think Mikey would have a significant size advantage over Lomachenko. He'd have a power advantage, obviously. But he's not all that much bigger.

I've seen them side by side and Mikey is much bigger. He struggles to make 135 but Loma is looking small for the division. The old proverb in boxing is that when you have two talented guys, bet on the bigger one. Loma vs Rigo is a perfect example of that.

If I’m not mistaken Garcia rehydrated to 146 pounds against broner. Loma was 137 last time they showed his fight night weight. Doesn’t sound like a lot but 10 pounds at the lower weights is huge. Especially when skill is almost equal. I’ve seen them side by side in a video meeting, shaking hands & posing for pictures together. Mikey was noticeabley bigger. His height, head, neck, body, hands all looked bigger. If I was on Lomas team I definitely wouldn’t like him taking that fight.

At what weight was the Broner fight? 144? I think Garcia is big for 135, but not for 140. The biggest problem here will be that Garcia will make it extremely hard to negotiate with. He got plenty of offers in the past and always picked a relatively unknown guy where he was the clear A Side against, like Zlaticanin and Lipinets.

Lomachenko has very short arms and a small head. Garcias head is like 2 times as big, I still think Loma wins this fight. Loma is in there for the legacy, Garcia for the money, I just think that Garcia doesnt want this fight, even though he talks as if he would, but actions speak louder than words, so far Garcia has been talking the big guns and fought the unknowns.

He small but hits like a big man.

Dangerous for all twelve rounds and extremely accurate with power punches.

He's a big lightweight and Lomachenko looked like a small lightweight last night. Of course, the size difference would not be ridiculous like with the Munguia/Ali fight last night, but it would still be significant.

Mikey garcia is also a lot fatter than lomachenko and carries more body fat.

They saw what Linares did and know Garcia would beat Loma. They simply don't want the fight. Kind of the same reaction to the Canelo rematch, Golovkin fans don't want that fight either because the know Golovkin likely loses.
