Comments Thread For: Linares: Lomachenko Knows What He's in For, I'm Not Ordinary

By Thomas Gerbasi - A fighter can lie to the world. He can't lie to himself. Jorge Linares knows that now, but the way the WBA lightweight champion feels heading into his Saturday bout with Vasyl Lomachenko, there's no reason to tell any tall tales. "I analyze myself very much," he said during a media roundtable in Los Angeles in March...

Dude, he fell asleep watching the guy he's going to fight?

I definitely would not have mentioned that.

How can you understand his style when you fall asleep? Boring fight or no, you have to study it, not as a fan but as a professional. Not a smart move.

I am a Lomachenko fan, but this is a tough fight.

If Loma wins, he is undisputed pound for pound 1.

Not sure why certain fans aren't praising him for moving up in weight and taking on a tough task.

No delusions, this is Linares toughest fight. But IMO it's also Loma's toughest... either that or the Salido fight... depending on how much importance fans give that one. IMO the difference here between Linares and other opponents of Lomachenko is that Linares is more cerebral than the average top rated fighter. So he may very well be able to analyse on the fly and figure out Lomachenko... where others have failed. This could turn out to be one of the better fights this year. Can't wait.

Okay, Linares is ordinary decent fighter. Lomachenko won his Olympic gold medal at lightweight when he was lot younger. He is in his natural weight now. He can endd up in 140 easily. Linares better put some work to not look ordinary as he did in his last fight.

I like Lomachenko, but he's been in the pound-for-pound conversation since he was 3-1.. how? Its not like he's 30-0 or a five division champion.. we can't give that title away when so many before him have done a lot more.. ijs.. wait until the man does something more than everyone else.

He wasn't on any respected P4P list until he defeated Martinez in spectacular fashion in his second weight class to win a second world title in his seventh fight (6-1). He's now already in his third weight class in what will only be his twelfth fight. If he blows away Linares then his claim as P4P #1 is as good as anyone's right now.
