  • Comments Thread For: Stevenson vs. Jack Now Heads To Toronto, Not Montreal

The world championship fight between World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and former two-division champion Badou Jack will not take place in Montreal - but now in Toronto. Scheduled for May 19th, the lead promoter Yvon Michel of GYM, who handles Stevenson, has always maintained that the fight would take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, and that he was waiting for the signing of contracts to put in motion the promotion of the event and sale of tickets.

Stevenson / Jack is a cant miss fight but this card is such a f.ucking amateur hour joke

Fights 3 1/2 Weeks out with no ticket sales. The whole time all the information said it was taking place in Montreal and all of a sudden there’s a venue change in a different city.

Russell Jr/ Diaz was announced at the last minute to be on it then gets taken off and they have a venue and ticket sales available before this fight that’s been announced since January.

I bought a couple plane tickets to Montreal already to check out this fight. So f.ucking annoyed with this sh.it show I don’t even know if I’ll reschedule to go to Toronto or say f.uck it and just hit up Montreal for the weekend.

GYM stated the decision came from Haymon/PBC... There's something muddy going on right now and the next few days will bring answers... GYM relationship with Haymon is hairy at best and I wouldn't be surprised if they just let go on Stevenson who has been more of a problem than an asset for GYM in recent years...

The Fight is officially on though, and all the GYM stable that was supposed to be on the Montreal card will be in Toronto...

As much as I endorsed Stevenson through the years, I'd like to see him getting a lesson... Chances are slim though...

great to see this coming to my town, although you could walk down any street in Toronto and mention either of these guys names to 100 people and I doubt 10 would no who they are. Toronto is a bandwagon sports town though, with the proper promotion they could easily sell 10 000 tickets.

Jack should have Darnell Boone walk him into the ring. Give the pimp flashbacks.

To be honest, I seriously doubt even 10% of Montrealers know about Adonis Stevenson.

I disagree, Quebec is a great market for boxing, Montreal has no NBA/MLB , boxing has a niche in Quebec, lots of homegrown talent and some have made it to the top from there... I seen Pascal and Lemieux fight there on different occasions in front of crowds over 10k. and the fans in the stands are very knowledgeable. RDS actually reports on boxing. This ain't Ottawa where even the Sens cant even sellout playoff games...http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/hock...ainst-penguins
