  • Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue - Boxing's Next Boogeyman

For Naoya Inoue, his career to this point has been contradicting. On one hand he has fought every fight but one within his native Japan, which is quite common for the majority of his pugilist countrymen. He's also been a loyalist to his championship patron, the WBO, beating down mandatories one after another, defending his WBO super flyweight title seven times. This is also common as Japanese champions generally make their bones fighting whoever resides within their organization's ranking system.

Did the writer just start following Naoya?

The 'Boogeyman' skipped flyweight when a prime Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez was P4P #1, with the other P4P Flyweight Juan Fransico Estrada also present and unified champion at the same time.

The 'Boogeyman' never answer the challenge from the #2. jr. Bantamweight ( when Inoue became lineal champion at 115 ) from 'El Principle' Carlos Cuadras who called him out and even fought in Japan under the same promotion ( Teiken Gym.)

Ok so this narrative that Naoya is being ducked started in the last few remaining months at superflyweight, when Yafai, and Ancajas decided to swerve him ; but I find it funny how the writer ignores the rest of the years he was at 115 without fighting anyone worth a damn -- MEANWHILE the guys from 112 jumped up to this weight and get it cracking!

Gonzalez, Estrada, Arroyo, Rungvisai, Ancajas, Concepcion, Casimero even Nietes and Brian Viloria are getting some!

Now the 'Monster' jumps up to 118 and has Tete calling him out before he even moves up and offers him a shot ; you got Jamie McDonnald already putting his trinket on the line against Naoya! how is he ducked?

And FYI a important factor as to why the Japanese/Asians haven't produced many unified champion is because some of the weight classes they usually fight in have only been around for 30+ years! light-flyweight was resurrected after being abolished thanks to the WBC in the 70's, so save that record defense bull crap and mentioning GGG! Ok I get it hes half Asian I guess.

Not to mention they overmarinated the chocolatito fight until rungvisai beat them to it. I remember reading somewhere about inoue's team saying inoue is not yet ready for chocolatito and then when rungvisai beat choco inoue didn't even spared him a glance. Inoue was reported having weight troubles but i guess rungvisai wasn't reason enough to stay at 115.

You right on with the bold, and lol at Rungvisai! that was would of been better than any challenge 118 can produce -- unless you put Naoya in there with a juiced Luis Nery.

No doubt the Guy's good, but he won't gain any global credence unless he fights outside of his own backyard!

He has some definite skills I seen on YouTube but he needs International exposure as other Fighters have not done as well staying within their country and defending even the girls like Braekhus and Bopp, on her first venture out of Argentina was soundly beaten by Jessica Chavez... it's not the fighter it's his people that need to make the decision when to take him out of Japan but possibly soon exposure to U S TV would help that...
