Pakistan's only World Boxing Council (WBC) title winner Muhammad Waseem will take on South Africa's Moruti Mthalane for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight world title bout on July 14 in Malaysia. This is also the first time any Pakistan pugilist will be going for the IBF world title.

I'm happy for Wassem that ' Green Day' Sean Gibbons is helping his career and giving him new opportunities ; I was sad that it appeared Muhammad was about to quit after financial hardship.

Speaking of Sean Gibbons, hes is all over the sport of boxing ; ironically he was at Higa vs. Rosales -- Higa was suppose to defend vs. Muhammad in January ( I think ) , I wonder how Waseem feels seeing or learning Rosales took the title that he was in line to contest ( WBC ) from Daigo ; I'm sure hes kicking himself right now.

Nevertheless, this twist of fate like what happened to Christopher Rosales can also repeat for Muhammad Wasseem ( it appears ) with this recent unexpected departure from Donnie Nietes to 'Superfly' ! I personally think it might be too much too soon for Muhammad : Moruti Mthalane is no joke, and is on a tear, his last L was against a prime Nonito Donaire.

I'm favoring the South African but will be happy for the upset, best of luck to Muhammad Wasseem.

Havent seen his recent fights, but mthalane is no joke. He did look competitive with donaire until the eye injury and his performance against tete (current 118 wbo champ) and Casimero were really strong, especially how he chopped down tete.
Im not sure how much he has declined. The guy is already 35 years old as a flyweight.

How good is Waseem? I only know that he gets into instagram fights with random users lol.
