Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Broner-Vargas Shouldn't Be Fought at Catch-Weight

    Do you agree with Floyd?

"One thing about Jessie Vargas, he's not no pushover...he can fight...me, myself, I don't understand why it's at a catchweight...he fought Paulie at 147...if he fought Paulie at 147, I think he should fight Jessie at 147...skills pay the bills...if you good, you good...if you not, you not,"

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s company once promoted Jessie Vargas, thus Mayweather knows just how tough of a fight Adrien Broner has accepted. Broner was supposed to oppose Omar Figueroa on April 21 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Once the undefeated Figueroa withdrew from their 12-round, 140-pound main event early in March, reportedly due to a shoulder injury, Broner agreed to face Vargas.

        Indeed.

You can't fight Canelo in one of the biggest fights of the decade and then act like you think catchweight's are bull****.

I don't think it would have made a difference if they fought at 154 anyway but that's not the point here.

Vargas stays in really good shape outside of fighting. I dont think the 2lbs is going to effect Vargas like team Broner thinks it will. In fact I bet Broner outside of training is 10-15lbs heavier than Jessie.

Broner is trying to build himself bacl up, Floyd is not.

The catch weight didn't benefit Floyd in the Marquez fight, also.. floyd as never made over 151 the catch-weight with him and Canelo was 152, AB has made 147 before.

Thats a tough one Broner has gone on record saying he's out grown 140 but fought Mikey G at 140 and also.. fighting in the title eliminator now for a 140 title. I just think AB is full excuses.. He was good at 130 & 135 bulling fighters because he was bigger fighting at a lower weight class & also 140 against C level fighters . Like FMJ said if you good ur good if your not ur not which I think he's an C + fighter. Never should of compared him to FMJ, FMJ at 130 - 140 was a killer.

Stop with the silly excuses. Floyd didn't make weight for the Marquez fight, and he refused to be weighed on the day of the fight. He was visibly the much bigger man in the ring.
