Comments Thread For: Ronda Rousey: Mayweather in MMA? No Way - Its All Talk!

A few years ago, Ronda Rousey was the biggest star in mixed martial arts, while Floyd Mayweather was the biggest star in boxing. The two of them had a minor feud in the press, because Mayweather claimed during an interview that he was unfamiliar with Rousey and actually thought she was a man.

She should know, she can't compete in MMA either.

Funny thing is, Ronda could probably KO floyd in boxing and would DEFINITELY submit him in MMA.

She recieved 2 serious shellackings from two primary boxers in her sport, so she can't think Mayweather couldnt do good. The thing is his age at this point in life, he's no spring chicken and can't afford to take spinning heal kicks to the temple (not even in training) if he's built his legacy on NOT being hit - admittedly for health reasons.......if a 7fig payday can come out of this, he'll most likely risk the kicks! He knows he's close to being forgotten and knows he's gotta juice his name for all its worth - while theres still this limited time.....

Typical Ronda passive aggressive response, "Yeah, I don't think that'll happen". No insights given or explanation, just a small quote.

Honestly it's seeming more and more plausible with each new headline that comes out, I can definitely believe that Floyd's ego is so out of control that he's actually thinking about doing this. The one memory that sticks with me from the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was either immediately after the final bell or just after the scores were read out, where Floyd was yelling out loud "I told you! I told you!", and then he kind of looks to the ground and says quietly, more to himself than to anyone else, "You can't beat me!" I do think that he's got some sort of mental complex around the perception of his own invincibility. Honestly I feel like he took the McGregor fight more because he couldn't bear such a loud, high profile guy continuing to proclaim himself as superior to him than because he wanted even more money. And then, after that fight's inevitable conclusion, there was the inevitable counter-claims of "well, it's not like he'd win in the Octagon!" and now he feels like he has to prove them all wrong and stamp out that challenge to his supremacy as well. This time, however, he's surely flying way too close to the sun. Hopefully sanity reasserts itself soon, I don't want to see this circus play out again.
