Comments Thread For: Parker: Anthony Joshua is No God, I'll Prove That on Saturday

Joseph Parker has dismissed Anthony Joshua's "unrealistic" claims and insists he will beat the heavy betting favorite because "he's not a god". The WBO heavyweight world champion was responding to Joshua's suggestion that no human can beat him, ahead of their unification fight on Saturday.

If you hurt him, don't let him off the hook!

Anyone who thinks Parker will win, can you explain this one thing to me? If he hasn't had a knockout in 3 of his last 5 opponents, how is it that you think he will all of a sudden KO AJ when AJ is taller, bigger, hits harder and on his home turf? Also, is Parker couldn't KO Cojanu, or even hurt him (Cojanu actually laughed at some of Parker's punches) then how will he all of a sudden KO AJ? This will be a demolition job similar to Joshua vs Breazeale. Parker's team will either throw in the towel, quit on their stool or the ref will save him. Then they will talk about how AJ still didn't knock them out hahah

Same old story. One press conference. So far broken up into 10 articles. Would be sweet to just get a posted transcript. I already just skip the entire article bar the quotes.

I can't make a case, instead I can agree with you. It always concerns me when the A Side allows the opposition to build their man and keep calling them a credible opponent and complimenting them. Sniffs a bit of an underlying mismatch.

On paper there isn't much to suggest Parker has got this. He isn't a KO artist at the higher level, bearing in mind the level we're talking is Hughie, Ruiz and Takam then it's fair to say he's not coping well with the skill increase and isn't creating the same ops to deliver the big punches, AJ is another skill level up. There's a lot said about his speed, but he's not exactly lightening, he'd need a lot more to be a big problem for AJ's reflexes and I think AJ will relish facing faster hands once he has the timing sorted in the early rounds, it could well be how Parker gets KO'd. Finally, there's is stamina, it's called an advantage, but I don't think he's that much fitter, once he has a very strong guy leaning on him and punching him in the face it'll slow him down and sap him the way it would any other boxer.

I don't know if AJ gets the KO, Parker does have a chin and his foot speed could prevent him shipping a huge punch. So, I'd call it a win for AJ, but I'm not bullish on a big KO.

For me the biggest danger to AJ is cuts, Parker is hard headed like Takam and I see some clashes of heads on the inside.

I'd like Parker to win, but don't think he will.

IF he is as tough as they say and has the chin they say, maybe he can try to fight at a high pace, press the action, use speed and maybe get Joshua to fight at a pace he doesn't want and be able to tough out what Joshua brings to him. This tactic if successful would get Joshua tired by the second half of the fight, then Parker could try to take over.

outside of just landing a shot that does the job (which can happen to almost anybody), i see that as Parker's only real chance of doing anything, but it's easier said than done. Dictating the pace of the fight to AJ will be hard, as will being able to take any punishment and keep pressing the fight.

We don't really know if Parker is as tough as they say and his chin is as good as they say. He hasn't been in with anyone who hits that hard. So we'll find out. He's going to need to be everything his team say he is to stand any chance.

Well, the Brits may disagree, he was pretty much worshiped as a god in that ring-walk vs Klitschko

Parkers movement is authentically good and styles do very much make fights. Win or lose, this ia AJs toughest fight to date against a bonafide champ who isn't "scared" of him and who isnt experimenting with a new style like Wlad did...... Parkers vibe kinda reminds me of Holyfields "attitude" towards Tyson, Tarvers against Roy, and Barreras against Hamed. Hopefully it won't turn out to be a Haye -vs- Wlad situation.

Attitude can end up being everything in certain fights.......this "scared" talk from Josh can be OK if its channeled, but how scared is he(?) - in these prefight interviews he's spent an inordinate amount of time talking about it and conversely how he'll take Parker out. He seems to want NOTHING to do with Wilder, and thinks Parker is small enough to dominate?....comin' across a bit like a scared bully.........wouldnt be surprised if he lost...... Hopefully its a good fight.
