He has neither special technique nor unusual punching power but no one demands more from himself than the former U.S. Olympian, a trait that could take him a long way in his chosen sport. Ramirez (22-0, 16 knockouts) is no better than Amir Imam (21-2, 18 KOs) in most ways but overwhelmed him nonetheless because he didn't give Imam a chance to breathe, pushing leather into his face and body from the opening bell to win a unanimous decision and the vacant WBC 140-pound title.

Looking at Verdejo's career as a pro this was something that was somewhat expected, but not against an unknown fighter like Lozada that was hand picked for Verdejo (like ALL his other fights)..Till this day Verdejo has NOT fought a top 10 fighter, all have been "B" & "C" fighters hyping up his record & in Verdejo's previous fight against Flores in the last rounds Verdejo took a lot of unnecessary blows & before that against "La Boa" even tho he won, he did not look good at all..It seems like Arum more or less knew that Verdejo has not lived up to the hype & that's why this last fight was not televised (first time that one of Verdejo's fights was not televised) so who knows what plans they have him now (if any)

The Ramirez Imam fight was good as expected Imam showed good defense but Ramirez was just relentless & would not stop throwing punches..Ramirez will give anyone a tough fight..I see him making a few defenses of his title..
