  • Comments Thread For: Uzcategui: I Didn't Hit Dirrell After Bell; He Could've Continued

NEW YORK Jose Uzcategui seemingly has forgiven Andre Dirrell's uncle for sucker-punching him following their fight nine months ago. The super middleweight contender from Venezuela still hasn't absolved referee Bill Clancy for disqualifying him May 20, though. Uzcategui went as far as to accuse Clancy of having it in for him before his fight against Dirrell even began.

Dirrell has one of the strangest mentalities of a fighter I've ever seen.

He can fight the prime Froch, AA, and any "monster", but if an illegal punch lands it's like he just turns off.

Honestly baffling. Talented kid though, but didn't have heart/mentality to be top echelon

He is too soft. Needs to take more of a "no quarter given, no quarter asked" mentality.

You're right, but it's hard to say that because...the dude is a professional boxer - and a damn good one. How can he be soft?

            And yet...he is? WTF??

He was shook of his Papi SOG! I used to sense that. Hence Super Six and Olympics

He did hit after the bell (more than once), but Dirrell could've continued. I don't really blame him because it happened before and he was struggling. Uzcategui gets his chance to do it again so make it count this time and stop when the bell rings.
