  • Comments Thread For: Luis Nery Has No Weight Issues at Second Day Weigh-In

Mexican boxer Luis "Pantera" Nery received the green light for his rematch fight against Japan's Shinsuke Yamanaka. He weighed in at 126.7 pounds; after reaching an agreement where he was unable to weigh more than 128 pounds on the afternoon of the fight. Yesterday at the official weigh-in ceremony, Nery was very overweight after coming on his first attempt at 123 pounds, five pounds above the 118-pound limit, while the challenger Yamanaka scored 117.5 pounds.

Unfortunately, if Nery wins again he won't receive any credit for missing weight the first time.

The only way to somewhat redeem himself is to knock Yamanaka out.

Hopefully he is drained, comes out like a zombie and gets ripped apart by Yamanaka like Godzilla rolling through Tokyo

He's a steroid cheat and came in 5 pounds overweight.

Do you only support him because you're Mexican?

                Luis

Title should be vacant in the first place to avoid being biased and rematch is in order. Nery has the advantage in weigh now and not in a losing position. Same day weigh in should be the equalizer for P4P champion!

I think this was a huge advantage for Nery. He didn't have to cut down to anywhere near 118. So he comes in at 123 loses a couple of pounds and by fight night he is far stronger than if he was forced to make weight. If he had to make an honest attempt to get down to 118 he would probably lose because he would be weakened. In fact 3 out of the last 4 fights he was 120 or more. The one time he makes weight he gets caught using zilpaterol which is "both a PED and an effective weight reducer" according to Memo Heredia. Luis can no longer make Bantamweight so why bother? He makes Yamanaka cut weight while he doesn't have to sweat it out. Yamanaka should have walked. He got played and will probably get KO'd by the bigger man!
