Roman is gritty but Berchelt is the real deal, and will fight lomenchenko or Valdez.....

If 2017 was the year of stacked, mouth-watering matchups, then 2018 is gearing up as the year of stacked tune-ups, voluntary defences, what-if's, might, shoulds and could, ultimately slamming on the breaks that the screaming momentum 2017 had.

The best (or worst ) example is the MW division. Completely brimming with world class fighters, if a division ever needed a WBSS, it does.

9 months between the two top MW's fighting again, with Saunders coming close to behaving like an Adonis Stevenson with his WBO belt.

Boxing has a long way to go to regather credibility, and 2017 ought to have been the springboard for an exciting 2018, but it doesn't appear to be heading that way.

Thanks again to the numerous, money-grubbing, self-serving promoters who would rather take the easier of the two equally potential money making options: Have your top-tier fighter fight another named fighter and rake in the PPV dollars, please the fans, recapture the attention of the 'casual' fan, or; Have your cash cow simply take on journeymen, no names, lowly ranked opponents which is akin to owning a circus act that you travel around with and dazzle the paying fans by setting him up with exhibitions.

Case in point: Daniel Jacobs. Whilst not the only fighter from the last couple of years to gain kudos from a loss, instead of stepping up, Jacobs retreated back into the shadows of obscurity and allowed the interest he gained from a L to GGG to almost peter out.

Good fight . Berchelt better not look past Roman though . The dude's tough as they come.
Funny I heard a rumour at the gym today that this fight would be on the Canelo/GGG undercard .

I imagine that this fight will draw a lot of interest in Mexico.

It's a good matchup and should be a war.
