Mexico's Berchelt dropped Awuku twice and stopped the veteran from Ghana in the third round of their scheduled 12-round fight for Berchelt's WBC super featherweight title at Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Mexico. The 26-year-old Berchelt (33-1, 29 KOs) made the second defense of the WBC 130-pound championship he won by knocking out fellow Mexican Francisco Vargas in the 11th round of their January 2017 bout in Indio, California.
