Comments Thread For: Wilder Manager: We Want Joshua Now, They Took Another Road!

Jay Deas, co-manager and trainer for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs), says their entire team wanted to face WBA, IBF, IBO champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) next. They did have some minor talks, but ultimately Deas was told - by Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn - that more time was needed to properly build that contest up.

    Your retirement fight will happen

    Just keep winning

Wilder could have been a mega star if his manager put him in meaningful fights

He should have gone for klitschko when he first got his strap

Yeah at an obvious bail out asking for 50% lol. Knowing they are no shape for such a demand. Lol these clowns are trying to be media whores by dropping AJs name lol

LOL! Get real... I really want to see Wilder vs Joshua, but Wilder has zero leverage outside the media and the WBC also campaigning for a payday on his behalf. Wilder has no fans to really make noise for him, has never headlined a single PPV card and isn't known outside of serious boxing fans. Joshua will continue to fill stadiums & sell PPV's, will have 3/4 alphabet titles if he beats Parker and transcends the sport in his market.

Saying all that, I really hope they can fight this year before either of them slips up and ruins it. I think Ortiz is a genuine threat to Wilder too if he comes in top form and makes him miss.

Everyone except for Wilder seem to know this fight will happen, AJ's camp know what they are doing, letting this simmer until everyone is desperate for it and the money is big. AJ wants a $30-50m payday on home soil and if he keeps winning and so does Wilder, they'll export the PPV no problem.

Wilder is so desperate. He knows that the time it is not on his side. He's getting older and AJ and his team will capitalize on that. The irony is Wilder fought lots of old fat bums.
