  • Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce vs. Rudolf Jozic on February 16th at York Hall

Opened in 1929 by the Duke of York, York Hall has a strong boxing heritage, renowned as one of the country's premier boxing venues. The Georgian Grade II listed building is located in Bethnal Green and was the venue where Haye himself defeated veteran Tony Booth in two rounds in his first professional fight in 2002. Under the very same roof David also went on to capture his first English Cruiserweight Title and defend his European Cruiserweight Title, multiple times.

not the type of fight he should be taking considering his age,it does no help for him in the rankings, perhaps for the sake of activity due to difficulty landing solid opponents, time is not on his side

I don't get the hype around Joyce, he looked awful in his last fight! Not fast, not powerful, minimal ring iq. Just an average heavyweight.

Seems like a bs fight. Guy has 4 wins & all 4 over guys with losing records (quite losing records at that lol). Whats the point? This looks like any early fight for a promising prospect.

If they were fighting him more fair play, but this is 4mos after his pro debut. We going hard or nah?

Than again watching him in that first fight he didn't seem to have a whole lot of comfort so maybe notching him a couple easy W's or two helps with that & then around fight 4 or 5 we can get back on pace. He's still only 32 not 34 or 35 or something like that. They still got time to take a couple years to get him in contention + still have a few solid prime years to defend belts & the like if he proves to be THAT good.

He was supposed to be fighting the guy Hrgovic just beat, on the Haye/Bellew 2 card in December.

Joyce kind of limited by the amount of cards Haye puts on, but hes expected to be on this, another in March and Haye/Bellew 2 in May.

I would think with the Haye/Schaefer connection maybe they could throw him on one of those WBSS cards to to keep it moving.

But maybe he's too big of a draw/name to be a featured fight on that sorta card idk. I think at this level of the game doe notching fights vs guys that move you along is superior to selling a few extra tickets if that is the case with him.

The European side of the WBSS seems to be all Sauerlands, think they want to feature their fighters more. Infact I don't really know what Schaefer brings to the whole thing. He had one job to do, get US TV and he failed miserably.

I don't think its a ticket thing with Joe Joyce, next 2 fights are only 1200 capacity. Its the TV thing more, got a good setup with Dave, to get eyes early, Dave's free TV. Its that money thing, no one wants a loss to a 1-0 guy on their record unless theyre compensated. He'll get a big step up fight on the Haye/Bellew card with there being more money.

he should have signed with hearns or at leat warren. guys who have enough shows to showcase him. Haye promotion is not even close to establish and except himself, he doesnt have anyone who can headline big shows.

His other 2 events until haye headlines his own show against bellew in may are headined by John O'Donnell (who?) and Matty Askin.

Haye now has to keep fighting to keep his promotional company relevant. I hope for him that his prospects joyce, hutchinson and page are panning out.

The setups good for Hutchinson, I think he'll eventually be the standout of Haye's guys. Can be built slowly, eventually end up being to Dave what Josh Taylor is becoming for 5.

But yeah Joyce needs a much quicker push, Hearn and Warren would probably have been better.
